Stress And Metabolism
Stress triggers an automatic uncontrolled flood of hormones which are secreted without our command and flood our blood in a stampede without our control. These hormones, which are Cortisol, Adrenaline, Nor-Epinephrine and Insulin, affect every aspect of our metabolism and every organ and every cell, and their prolonged and repetitive secretion causes uncontrolled METABOLIC and HORMONE IMBALANCE, throwing the body into an abnormal state. Recurrent and persistent stressful events perpetuate this state of metabolic-hormonal disorder and end up affecting the elimination of toxins , glucose metabolism, absorption of nutrients, brain chemicals, fat metabolism, the energy of cells and the functioning of the organs. This state of metabolic imbalance , a slow, persistent, rather silent and very prolonged disorder, is capable of causing weight-gain, obesity, weight-loss resistance, low thyroid function, low level of sex hormones, adrenal fatigue, and a multitude of adverse medical conditions. It is a slow and complex group of events that drains the hormones and takes the individual in a slow spiral down of progressive health decline. We call it "METABOLIC STRESS" to differentiate it from what we know as common stress. We explain this with more detail in our office and also in the "Metabolic Stress" chapter. Very careful evaluation and management of this condition is required. We can show you how.

METABOLIC STRESS COULD BE ONE OF THE ROOTS OF YOUR WEIGHT AND HEALTH PROBLEM AND IS AT THE CORE CENTER OF MANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS.

Stress affects cortisol, brain chemicals (like serotonin and dopamine), thyroid and hormones, but how can you tell whether it is affecting your metabolism or not? Through testing and explanation we can help you find the answers and teach you about treatment options.

CAUSES OF STRESS. Some of the causes of stress are very clear, like in divorce, grief, bankruptcy, losing money, job problems, family problems, noises, fear, emotions, arguments, anger, toxins, driving and suffering abuse. But some other causes are not that clear, like dietary abuse, consuming big loads of food, abusing sugars and flour products, wrong diets. A large consumption of carbs (carbohydrates) causes metabolic stress because it makes it difficult for our metabolism to handle the excessive volume of sugars and calories, which excites the adrenal-cortisol system and makes it to over-react. Eating large quantities of food causes bowel distress that ends up triggering the metabolic stress cascade as well. Bowel inflammation caused by wrong foods and bad diet can produce bowel illness and metabolic stress as well. Insomnia, poor sleep and hypoglycemia can trigger stress reaction.

"MANY PEOPLE ARE AFFECTED BY METABOLIC STRESS FOR YEARS. AND DON'T KNOW IT"

WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU:
DIAGNOSTIC TESTS:
We do a comprehensive evaluation, evaluating metabolism and hormones. Our objective in first place is to find out to what degree stress is affecting you. We try to find how bad is your metabolism affected by the stressors. Our comprehensive adrenal and hormonal test is the starting point. Our Metabolic Test will evaluate your metabolism.

HOW TO FIX IT? Before you can fix you need to diagnose. TREATMENT is done according to the results of our tests. We follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. We can help.

SYMPTOMS AND CONDITIONS CAUSED BY THIS " METABOLIC STRESS":
Overweight, obesity, FATIGUE, chronic fatigue, difficulty getting up in the morning, poor sleep, lethargy, low sex drive, poor ability to handle stress, adrenal fatigue, poor immunity, frequent respiratory infections, decreased ability to recover from illness or injury, lightheadedness, PMS, less enjoyment, mental fog, poor memory, frequent bronchitis or asthma, frequent cough, inability to lose weight. Also: feeling wasted, hormonal disorders, breast problems. If brain-chemicals (neurotransmitters) are affected: pain, muscle pain, anxiety, DEPRESSION, fibromyalgia, intellectual disorders. You can also experience muscle weakness, cravings (sweets, salt), poor alcohol tolerance, exhaustion, addiction, apathy, allergies, high blood pressure, poor sleep, increased belly-fat, decreased serotonin (causing depression, craving and lack of satiety), stiffness, nervous stomach, indigestion, frequent headaches, easy fatigability, nervous breakdowns, chronic fatigue and accelerated aging. Stress can exhaust your adrenal gland and your hormones. . .(DISCLAIMER). PATIENTS COMING TO OUR OFFICE WITH ANY OF THESE COMPLAINTS ARE OFFERED THE METABOLIC STRESS EVALUATION.

Have you seen people "Burnt out" "wasted" "drained"?
Or have you felt like this yourself?  Metabolic stress is at the core of this.

Participants of our MEDICAL-TRIM PROGRAM are evaluated for metabolic stress, as this may be a decisive factor that may affect the success of any weight loss program.

WE'LL REVIEW SOME OTHER TRIGGERS OF STRESS at the office, but CHANCES ARE THAT THE MORE "TRIGGERS" YOU'VE BEEN THROUGH THE MORE AFFECTED IS YOUR METABOLISM (stress factors have cumulative effect).
